starting July 1, 2025.
The initial fixed-term contract will be
for 3 years.
International PhD Program in Biomedicine
Activities and responsibilities
Doctoral researchers of this training program aim to gain critical new insights into the second messenger cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)’s role in cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders. cGMP is responsible for the transmission of signals in cells, and many drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases target this signaling pathway. The latest findings suggest that cGMP-modulating drugs can be used even more widely. An important element of the GRK is its strong international dimension. Each student will be co-mentored by a principal investigator from another international institution (e.g. Harvard Medical School) who works on a related topic and she/he will visit the partner laboratory for a period of three months. Using state-of-the-art techniques including transgenic mouse and human cell models, advanced bio-imaging, and live-cell analyses, fellows will gain critical new insights into cGMP’s role in cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders.
